Child's Play

When I was growing up, my best friend, Ellen (who is still my best friend after 35 years...), had a trapeze in her room. I will never forget the hours of fun we had playing in her room. And her sister had the ever popular 70's water bed. Which by the way, is not the best thing to jump on. We learned the hard, wet way...Regardless, I thought that her mom was the coolest to even think of such a fun things to do in her daughters rooms.

So here are my children's room inspirations for 2009...I will add more as I come across them.

I think this staircase/slide should be a back staircase that leads directly to the mud room.

Love the ladder and loft area

I have a bird wallpaper in my daughter's room now that we love. I think this is a bit more fun and will grow with her.

Iron Maiden

Iron windows and doors are some of the things that are on an ongoing list of mine to have in a house of mine sometime during my lifetime...hopefully, sooner rather than later.

Emily Robison's bathroom...love the iron doors and the chandelier!

Inspiration!

It is that time to start looking for a house. A house that has good bones. One that no one else has implemented their idea of good design. One that needs a lot of love and attention.

The magazines and books are being purchased, to be inspired by the latest trends in home design. Time to pull out the archives of pulled pages and tabbed books to refer to ideas that I have loved from the past. And the online hours that I will begin to log looking for inspiration.

Here we go...

On Hold...

After two weeks on the market, our place received a contract! As a shopper, I consider this as putting something on hold. They have my place "on hold" until December 17th, at which time they will come back and pay. Yes, you read correctly, December 17th! The week before Christmas and the day before my daughter gets out of school for a month...Therefore, not only do I have to buy, wrap, hide and move presents, organize, pack and move furniture, household items (Christmas tree), etc. I will have my wonderful eight year old daughter with me with her invaluable comments and non-stop help.

High Life

It's official...we have listed our beautiful Turtle Creek apartment for sale! After excitedly (wore off quickly) moving to Dallas, we bought an apartment in a Dallas landmark. 3525, The Grand Dame, as it is referred to by our neighbors. After months of gutting, renovating, cohabitating with family we finally moved in. Let me state for the record though, that this was supposed to be a temporary* living situation while we looked for a house in what I lovingly refer to Dallas as, Pleasantville.
